It is clear that the Maori Party will have between 4 and 7 seats in the new Parliament. However its Party
vote will not be enough to get any further seats. It is equally clear that NZ First will hold the balance of power with
anything from 10 to 15 seats, perhaps more. NZ First are not contesting the Maori seats, but rumour has it that Wallace Haumaha
will be contesting the General seat against Steve Chadwick.
Maori voters now have a chance to vote stragically to insure they have maximun influence after election
night by giving their constituent vote to Te Ururoa Flavell and their Party vote to NZ First.
